Importing A Car
Buying a car from England and importing it can be a way to save thousands, but how much you can save depends on the manufacturer. As an example, in one of my videos I gave a Citroen C4 2008 1.6 HDi as an example.
Advertised price €3950
Main Dealer €8500
Taking the same car the UK garage price of this car is £2360 which would cost you:
Car price €3000
VRT €900
Transport €500
TOTAL €4400
Ok, it’s €450 more expensive than the Irish advertised price, but it is still €4100 cheaper than the main dealer for the same car. Another example is the very popular BMW 320 M Sport 2008:
UK garage price £10,400 = €13,217
VRT €2,276
Transport €500
TOTAL €15,493
The Irish garage price is between €19,000 and €21,000 so savings of at least €4,500 are possible buying in the UK. The savings could be even more substantial if you take financing into account – probably in the region of six or seven thousand as six thousand could become ten thousand by the time it’s paid off.
